It's COLOUR WEEK at Just Us Girls

It's my Good Friend Judy Woodland's
First Time Hosting at Just Us Girls
as she recently joined us with her awesome talent
and has chosen such gorgeous soft colours
for our Colour Challenge.
It just so happens that we both love
the colour Lavender (and purple) so I was
excited when I saw her chosen colours
of  Lavender Peach & Ivory.

I seem to have been making lots of floral type card lately
so this was a perfect chance to move away from them.
This card came together so easily.
I have this beautiful Mother of Pearl metallic card stock
which was just perfect for the Ivory colour required.
I again used ivory card stock for my flourishes background
which were randomly heat embossed
with Satin Pearl Embossing Powder.
Inked with Memento Lulu Lavender &
SU Calypso Coral.
Added foam squares for dimension.
My big butterfly is from Spellbinders
and cut from lavender metallic paper.
The 'with love' is cut from the same paper
and is Spellbinders Sentiment 3.
Finished off with random pearls in
lavender and ivory on my butterfly.

I am sure you will love playing with these
beautiful colours so I look forward to
checking out Our Blog  - that is
after you have been inspired by all the
other beautiful cards created by
our Guest Angie and the Design Team.
You are never disappointed are you?
And you know that by joining is
you have the chance to be chosen as
Chic of the Week and could be
Guest Designer for June.

Thanks so much for dropping in and
it is always lovely to read your comments.

Hello Friend!

It has been a long time since I have played
with a challenge over at
as family health issues have kept me quite busy.
I think everything is about back to normal as it can be
so I am finally back at The House.
Now I HAD to make time for this challenge
because my Cyber Scottish Sister Cheri is Hosting her
'Who Let the Dogs Out' Challenge' and
this card was made for her.

Now when I make my cards for The House I always try
and make them with Repeat Impression Stamps.
I wasn't worried this time as I knew I wanted to use
my Scottie dog die my Hubby bought for me
and of course add tartan paper.
Then I remembered a stamp I purchased from
a win I had over there some time ago - hence the
Friend sentiment - You Cling Set
***
Here is how I made this card.
I have used black/re and white card stock.
The Scottie dog (Marianne Designs LR0339)
was cut from black card stock as I wanted
him to be white. I heat embossed a piece
of card stock in white to give a rough textured look
and glued the black cs to it. A shame you can't see the effect.
The frames were cut from Spellbinders Hexagons
Tartan paper is Boofle which a girlfriend brought back
for me when she was in London.
I gave my Scottie a tartan collar and of course a dog
needs a bone so have added several and inked
for effect. I have used foam squares for layering.
The flourishes on the corner finished it off nicely
I thought and are from Inspired by Stamping.

Thanks so much for dropping in.

A Little HELLO card.

I found this lovely colour challenge
over at
and thought I would play.

I had made several backgrounds before this one but they
weren't quite right so decided to heat emboss
this stamp from Urban Stamps
Beautiful -  Lepidopterology (big word)
with white embossing powder and then
inked up the background with
SU Melon Mambo - stained fingers and all
Yo Yo Yellow and Calypso Coral and popped.
My 'Hello' is from Lawn Fawn cut twice
and heat embossed for gloss.
Finished with a few Snow Pearls from Kaisercraft.
***
That's it for me for a few days as I am heading off
to spend a few days with my Sister in Law at the
Sunshine Coast - in Sunny Queensland.

Thanks for dropping in.
I love reading your comments so don't be shy!

A Birthday Card for the 'Fix it Man'

I did say in an earlier post I was going to play again with the
Sketch Challenge over at
and decided to go with a Male Theme.

I have had these tool dies from Marianne Designs
for ages and hadn't yet used them so I thought
they would be perfect for this Sketch.
I used red & orange card stock for my
base and matting - also using the orange for
a few of the tools.
I inked them all to give a worn look and
included the silver embossing and the
DP from Farmhouse Paper Co.
I just love the shoe marks - a great touch I thought.
The sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping.

I really enjoyed getting away from girly cards.
We never seem to have many male cards in our stash
so this is one to add to my collection.
Hubby's birthday is a little way off so this will
come in handy when that time comes.

Thanks for dropping in.

We're Smooching for Trend Week at JUGS

What a FABULOUS trend SUE
chose for us this week as Hostess at Just Us Girls.
It's all over the internet at present and
I love getting inky fingers.

Once again I have used one of my favourite colour combinations -
Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers & SU Melon Mambo
for my smooching background.
I found a new way (to me) of doing it - Inking Acetate
and spritzing with water.
My floral stamp is from Penny Black - Temptation
heat embossed in black.
Added a few extra blobs with
Tim Holtz Speckles Stencil
Sentiment is from SU Lotus Blossom.
Finished with a few pearls and gems.
***
I know you are going to love playing with this one
so pop over to Our Blog
and see what awesome smooching has been created by
Guest Designer Angie Cimbalo and the Jugheads.

We look forward to seeing you there.

I'm again Playing with Paper - A Sketch Challenge

I'm again playing over at
and this time for their Sketch Challenge.

Details are Here.

I wanted to get away from adding flowers
but didn't quite get there. However I decided
to add butterflies and then found some
pretty floral paper so used the colours
from that as my bases.
Because I used plain paper as one of my backings
I scored beside the sentiment which is from GKD.
My butterflies are from Sizzix and I have popped my
floral DP for dimension.

This is a nice cas sketch so am looking at
playing around with this again before
entries close.

Thanks for dropping by -

It's WORD WEEK at Just Us Girls

Sometimes just sometimes a Challenge Theme throws you
and this week it happened to me.
Lisa is our Hostess at Just Us Girls and she chose as her word
'RAINDROPS'
Now I don't have a single umbrella or any rain boots
in my little collection so I got my thinking cap on
and decided to make my own.

My first take on photographing my card didn't come out
very well as I think the dark background lost
my raindrops so went back and added more making them
a bit bigger. Even then some of the drops on the flowers
and greeting haven't shown up very well. Sigh!

Here is what I used  -
White card base
Grunge paper from Doodle Pantry
Sentiment Die - Nina's Things
Glossy Accents for the raindrops
SU Baja Breeze & Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers
inked from  SU Morning Meadow
Kaisercraft pearls

Welcome to Angie Cimbalo as our April Guest.
Pop over to our blog and check out
all the Raindrops that have fallen over there.
Hope we have inspired you to create your
Raindrops creation and join us.
You could be our Chic of the Week
and be in the running for our
June Guest Designer.

Thanks for dropping in

Just for You!

It's that time of the month for our
Word Week at Just Us Girls
and Maria is our Hostess choosing
FLOWERS! as our word.

I saw the idea for my card from
DOstamping with Dawn Here
and knew one day I wanted to case it
especially as I had the same stamp -
Retired SU Lotus Blossom.
I just love that stamp as it has a 3step
stamp and there are so many colour combinations
you could use. Just need to play with it
and see what looks good.
I came up with Memento Potters Clay
Desert Sand & Teal Zeal on mine.
Other products are -
Embossing is by Darice
Spellbinders Circles
Sentiment - Inspired by Stamping
Ribbon - SU
and rhinestones.

A little of the inside.

It's a Coloured Birthday Celebration

I found one of my favourite colour combinations over at
Colour Throwdown and just had to play.
Also at As You Like It their challenge is to
Make a card for your
Favourite Occasion and
Explain Why.
I think it is rewarding when you can make a
Birthday Card for someone special in your life
who is celebrating their Special Day.
So this time it is BIRTHDAY!
I am hoping to make another with my other favourite.
(not saying what it is)

In the process of making this card I had chosen
one of my favourite stamps for this challenge
but when I went to get a stencil
I went a totally different way.
I decided to get my bokeh stencil out and play with that
inking randomly with Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers
and SU Melon Mambo. They go so well together.
Funny how this technique isn't quite so popular
now as there are always new ones to try.
I used 2 other stencils in the background.
I am hoping I can finish the card I originally started
in time before the challenge ends.

I recently bought this Happy Birthday die and thought
it perfect to place in front using the 3rd colour.
It is from Nina's Things.
I decided to mute the colours by adding a sheet of
patterned vellum on top. Liked that it had circles in white
adding to the effect.
Finished off with coloured sequins.

So that's it for now.
I do have another card scheduled for later today
so you get a bonus with 2 postings....
Thanks for dropping by

Celebrate! It's Photo Week at JUGS

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls
and Hosting is Lisa who has chosen
rather a fitting photo as 2016 is
a Leap Year and all those who were born
on the 29th get to Celebrate their special day.

I looked at the photo and thought how easy was this?
Just some great flourishes and a date.
Well I was wrong. After a few attempts
and some paper being thrown in the bin
I went with this -

Not my favourite and not completely happy
with the end result but sometimes you just have
to say - It's not that bad after all...

I kept it cas as the photo is just that.
I used the following items -
White and coloured card stock
Scoring
Framed my flourish which is rightly named
Flourish from Kaisercraft.
inked with Memento Olive Grove (a little too dark )
Sentiment is IBS
Number 18 is from Cuttlebugs Hippie Chick Alphabet
Added some pearls to give my card a lift.

Thanks for dropping in and be sure to pop over
and see what has inspired our Guest Pamellia
and the Team.

Join us and you are in the running for
Chic of the Week and
may be chosen as our Guest for April.

I
