What's Under the Sea?

I had a lot of fun playing with some
old and new product for this challenge.
Hostess for our Word Week at Just Us Girls is Sharyn
choosing WATER.

Before I made my card I had played around with a few
water scenes which landed up in the bin.
This is when I decided to get out some inky messy items
to try my hand at something quite different.
As some of you know I recently spent time
with crafty friends at a Craft Show and this is where
I bought a few of the products I used here.
Gesso Paste
Gelatos
Texture Pastes
Sparkle Medium
White Embossing Enamel for the bubbles
Glossy Accents - water spots
Shells and cotton from my stash.

Now pop over to Our Blog to see what
our August Guest Colleen Foelker
and my talented Team Mates have created.
I hope you will have time to join us
this week.

Thanks for dropping in

It's Sketch Time at 'The House'

Being the end of the Month it is
Sketch time over at The House that Stamps Built.

j2716

As you can see I have flipped it and
matched it fairly well.
I wanted to try and make a scene using
a few Repeat Impression stamps
These are
The chair - 3415I
Clouds - 3403F
(hard to see as I sponged over them)
Gulls in Flight - 3412C.
Card stock is a dark brown
and a lighter brown for matting.
Embossed background.
My little scene was sponged with
various inks depicting sun sand and surf
with a touch of white on the waives.
Added some seaweed grasses from GKD
The chair I coloured and added touches of white
for a distressed look.
Finished off with trimming
a brad and the sentiment
is from Altenew.

So that is it for me this month at The House.
Thanks for dropping in.

Let's see it for 'THE GIRLS' at JUGS.

It's Wild Card Week at Just Us Girls
and this only comes around when we have
5 Saturday's in the Month.
This is always a 'Fun Challenge' and Nancy chose
a 'Ripper' for us.

I hadn't thought too much about what sort of card I would make
for Nancy's challenge until I saw something I had cut out
and was lying on my desk - even had the ribbon beside it
so what better time to finish off
what I had started some weeks before.

I had seen this type of card so many times that I worked out
a template to use and went from there.
I used Linen & plain card stock.
Designer paper is by Kaisercraft and double sided (of course)
I got out some old flower dies using
Tim Holtz Tattered Florals.
How many of us have this
and have had it in the back blocks for a long time?
The small flower in the centre is Bitty Blossoms
and have another piece in between from a SB die.
Scrunched them all up for dimension.
Added a pearl to the centre.
My leaves are also from Spellbinders
Ribbon is SU
Sentiment is Inspired by Stamping.
I love the soft colours of the DP as it makes
a lovely feminine card.
Pop on over and see what other Girly Creations
have been made by our Guest Carol and
my Team mates. Hope you can come and play
with us this week and you could be chosen
as Chic of the Week and go on to be our
Guest for September.

Since this is basically a Birthday card
and the current Theme Challenge over at
Watercooler Challenges is to use
The Letter B Details  Here.
I am joining in the fun
as my sentiment says Beautiful Birthday.

Playing with Purple Again

I am back again to show off another card I made for the
Shades of Purple Challenge over at

I have a pack of pearlescent textured card stock that
I thought I would try on my SU Lotus Blossom
stamp set to see how my flowers would turn out.
I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome as the flowers
are muted with the pearl and the texture added another
dimension - certainly different and not so bold
as the colours would have been with normal cs.
I inked one stamp and the stems on the base cs
and then cut several others to pop inking with
Memento Eldenberry/Sweet Plum
and Lulu Lavender.
I found the little piece of silver mesh
in my stash and thought it perfect
so added gemstones and sequins to match.
Sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping.
Added foam squares for dimension
and corner rounded to finish.

Again I thank you for dropping in
and it is always nice to read your comments.

Till next time - Cherrio from

A Sucker for You

I made a card for a summer challenge earlier in the month featuring
an old fashioned All Day Sucker and while I was thinking
sweet things decided to make a similar card for our
'Summer Challenge' over at Crafty Cardmakers.
This time round Bec is Hosting.

I cut a circle from Jac paper peeling off one side
and attached my rainbow coloured cotton around
till it was all covered. This was popped slightly
so I could attach my lollypop stick behind it.
I found some scrap DP that matched
to use as a background.
The sentiment is from an old
Cuttlebug Alphabet die - Typewriter.
I thought the sentiment perfect to go with
my 'All Day Sucker'.
I'm sure you can all relate to eating
plenty of these when you were young.
Finished it off with a gem in the centre.

Thanks for dropping in and hope you will
pop over to Our Blog to see what
my team mates thoughts were on
our 'Summer Theme'
Maybe I will see yours there.

HELLO Friend

The latest challenge over at
is a Colour Challenge.

I found this a little hard trying to match
what I had as close as I could but think
I matched the colours fairly well.
These are the colours I chose -
SU Baja Breeze
Memento Angel Pink
Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet/Stormy Sky.
For the Very Vanilla I used card stock.
My base is fairly close to the Baja Breeze
topped with Vanilla which was also used for
the FRIEND sentiment by Inspired by Stamping.
This was cut from Die-Namics Stitched Rectangles
My stencil is Memory Box
Hello - Lawn Fawn
Added pearls and used foam squares for dimension.

Hope you like my take on this colour challenge and
Thanks for dropping in.

Just a Note.

I am getting so much fun playing with
Tim Holtz Thinlits Mixed Media dies
as they make such a dramatic effect when
backed with Designer Paper.

I am once again playing along at The Mod Squad
hosted by Judy Woodland & Vicky Dutcher
for their Kraft Challenge.
This is a simple card showing of the beautiful
DP - Spring Lilacs from Inspired by Stamping
and adding a simple sentiment which is also
by IBS - Vintage Pieces.
I cut this with a SB die and inked with
Memento Elderberry.
I have used mounting squares for dimension.
Finished off by just adding some
purple gemstones.

Thanks for dropping in

Creating with 'Leftovers'

A few days ago I posted a card Here for the
WIW Inspiration Challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built
and said I would be back using up
some leftovers from that card.
Here is what I came up with.

I used a new stencil on this card  from Dusty Attic
Sentiment - SU
Inks - Memento Paris Dusk/Love Letter
Leftover Stars - Cuttlebug Die
Added glitter to the white star
Spritzing

This is the inspiration photo below.
j2016

I am also entering this for the current challenge over at
The Cut It Up Blog for their
Red White & Blue #101 Challenge

Thanks for dropping in.

It's all about 'Purple' at Double D Challenges

As you can see it is all about Purple at
Double D Challenges with these beautiful photos
for our Inspiration.
A lot of you will know that this is
'My Favourite Colour' so this was a
no brainer - I had to play.

I recently bought a few Altenew stamp sets
and am still getting used to all the layers
you can use to build your flower so mine.
I admit it has taken a few trial runs and still working on it.
For this reason I made this card cas.
The flower is from Altenew Peony Bouquet
using Memento Inks in
Eldenberry Sweet Plum & Lulu Lavender
Stencilled background is from TCW
Sentiment is Inspired by Stamping
Spellbinders Circle
Own ribbon & gemstones.

Off to make another card in my
favourite colours!

Photo Week #353 at Just Us Girls

It's Photo Week again at Just Us Girls
and Hosting this time round is Sue
choosing this photo below.

Now this really threw me and it took some time
before I decided how to create my card.
I took my inspiration from all the colours in the background
and decided to do some embossing and sponging.
I have used basic card stock here.
The embossing folder is another newbie from
the craft show - so too the little cogs.
I did come home with some great new craft items
and making good use of them too.
The embossing folder is Kaisercraft
as is the first sentiment die.
Cogs are Craft Emotions.
The other 2 sentiments were hand cut and
are from Inspired by Stamping.
I used various coloured distress inks and
added a touch of colour blast paste
to give the gold effect.

As always it would be great if you pop over to
Our Blog to see how Sue's photo
inspired our Guest Carol Mayne and
my super talented Team Mates.
Hope you get the chance to play and
you could be chosen as our
Chic of the Week going on to be
Our Guest in September.

Thanks for dropping in.
I love reading your comments too.

Simply saying 'Best Wishes'

Over at The Mod Squad Judy & Vicki are Hosting
and challenging us to use 'Kraft' as the main focus.

I love heat embossing on Kraft and this time I used
Zing Brown Sugar instead of white.
The flower is from Docraft embossed
several times including my Kraft base.
Sentiment is from Cheery Lynn
(in purple for you Judy even though it looks blueish)
I lightly inked small parts of the flowers
with a purple gel pen and finished with
coloured pearls.

Thanks for dropping in.
Love reading your Comments.

A Special Thanks.

It's time for a New Challenge at Crafting with Dragonflies
and it's the ever popular - Anything Goes.

I enjoyed making this card as I got to use my
Tim Holtz Thinlits Mixed Media die again.
I love them (Thanks Judy)
There is lots going on here so will get straight to
the products I used.
My base card stock is GKD Pure Luxury
Designer Paper - Kaisercraft Art of Life
TH Mixed Media
Spellbinder Circle inked with
Script from Darkroom Door and sponged
Dragonfly is Fancy That
sponged with gold inks - especially for Hilde!
 Kaisercraft  -  Decorative Dies

It's Your Day 'Kiddo'

It's the WIW Photo Inspiration Challenge over at
The House that Stamps Built
and once again I am playing along.

j2016

As you can see it is all about those
'Stars' and 'Colours'
My card is fairly simple using basic card stock colours
in red white and blue.
I bought a new embossing folder thanks to my
enabler Judy Woodland. She made a beautiful
card with it and I just loved the effect it created.
It is Geometric from We R Memory Keepers.
It hasn't photographed well which is a shame.
There are 2 folders in this set and the one I used
was just perfect for the star effect.
I inked up a background star stamp
and my stars are cut from an old Cuttlebug die.
The centre star I added glitter to so too
the smaller stars on the side.
My sentiments are from 3 different sets
Inspired by Stamping
Stampin' Up and
Repeat Impressions - Hello Cling Set
adding a touch of glitter to the i's and
inking the edges in red.

Since I have leftovers I will
make another card to use up those spares
so pop back another time to see how I used them.

Thanks for popping in.
Love to read your comments.

Birthday Wishes

Here I am again still in the Watercolour Mood and such
perfect timing for me to play over at The Paper Players
as their Challenge #304 is

I have been playing with this new stamp a few times now -
you will see it again in a few weeks.
The lovely stamp is called Watercolour Poppies #719
from Rubbernecker Stamps.
I inked this stamp on watercolour paper
colouring and blending with Tim Holtz distress inks
Evergreen Bough/Squeezed Lemonade and
Memento New Sprout
adding a touch of white with a uniball pen
to the centre of the flowers
a bit of spritzing and finished with
my SU sentiment cut from Spellbinder dies.

Thanks for dropping in.
Love reading your kind comments.

You Inspire Me

A dear friend recently gave me a Mixed Media Canvas
and I fell in love with the concept. I have always admired
that sort of craft and since we were at
a Craft Show - what better time to buy a few products
required for this type of art.
Just by chance I saw a blog called Stamps & Stencils
with a challenge that caught my eye Here
This gave me a chance to experiment and try my hand
at a bit of mixed media. I must admit I just went with
the flow hoping what I did turned out okay.

I love using corrugated cardboard and string
so that was my choice - middle row down.
I have used so many bits and bobs here but will
endeavour to list a few.

Gesso and gelatos for my flower - just played with it
and didn't know if I would even use it.
Kraft card stock
Corrugated cardboard and the piece I pealed off
was used for my tag.
I used  Tim Holtz distress inks
SU and Memento inks
Bokeh stencil for my circles
Scrap DP torn and inked adding script
from Kaisercraft stamp.
Texture Paste and paint to the cardboard
My flower consists of a Marianne Die
and DieNamics Die inked and a centre pearl
Added the necessary string
Sentiment is from Altenew

I must admit I enjoyed playing with this
but it left my craft room and my fingers in
an awful state.

I would also like to add this to the
Ooh la la Challenge for their
Challenge #209 Texture

Thanks for dropping in
and love to read your comments
on my practicing Mixed Media.

A Simple 'Thinking of You'

Once again it is our
Colour Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby has chosen
these amazing colours below.

I have a friend who needed a little cheering up
so decided to make a cas pick me up card.
I have used Woodgrain card stock
and topped that with an image from
SU - Inspired by Nature which I
heat embossed and sponged the background with
SU Melon Mambo/Calypso Coral
and Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade.
This was popped with the black frame.
Added a few drops of water to add to the effect.
My sentiment is from GKD and I
finished with 3 different sized pearls close to
the colours above.

Don't forget to pop over to Our Blog to see what
Our Guest Carol Mayne has created and
of course the very talented Designers.
Hope you can join us and maybe you could be
our next Chic of the Week.

Thanks for dropping in

A Simple Happy Birthday

I found this blog recently called
Watercooler Wednesday and they have a
CAS Butterfly Themed Challenge.
Now I, like most of you
I'm sure love butterflies and have a
mountain of them in our stash
so what better excuse is there to just get
one of those stamps out to play.
Details Here
I seem to be obsessed with backgrounds of late
and this is another one.
I have had a canvas paper pad for an age
and decided to try using it for my
watercolour background
using Tim Holtz Cracked Pistachio/Mermaid Lagoon
Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough.
Also added a bit more colours through
TH Speckles stencil. This was matted with the same
paper as my Happy Birthday from Spellbinders
attachedin a curved manner for effect.
The gorgeous butterfly is Gina K Designs
embossed in Teal.
I found it hard not to add some bling but
would not have been cas if I did.

Thanks for popping in.
I love reading your comments.

It's a 'Male Thing'

It's Designer's Choice at The House that Stamps Built
and for most of us we don't create enough cards for
the Males in our life. So thanks to Shirley we can add to our stash.
Details are Here.
I thought it fitting that I would make a background
using distress inks inking on water colour paper for
the beautiful bonsai stamp from
Repeat Impressions - 2409W.
I gave it a touch up with Gold WOS which is a little hard to see.
Added my sentiment from Stampin' Up
Backing it with white and rusty paper
which is scored. My card base is an olive colour.
A pretty cas card - just fitting for the Male Theme.

Thanks for dropping in.
I love reading your comments.
