Sketch #378 at Sketch Saturday

It is my second week as Guest Designer at
The generous sponsor this week is
Simon Says Stamps and the prize is a
$25 Gift Certificate
Here is this weeks Sketch
As it is September our Jacaranda Trees
will be coming out in bloom soon here in
Australia and they
are truly a beautiful site.
For this reason I decided to base my card around them
and my favourite colour.

I cheated here because I have this lovely digi set
from Doodle Pantry and you can find it Here
It is a pre coloured set (my favourite kind)
making my card super simple and quick to make.
As you can see I used the DP from the set
for my background and framed them in white.
My main focal image is cut from Spellbinders Squares
and backed with Lacey Squares sponged with
Memento Sweet Plum.
Background edges is also inked with the same.
Sentiment is cut with JustRite Vintage labels
Image sponged with Memento Lulu Lavender
Added some ribbon and a little bow to finish.
***
So there you have it for this week. Pop over to
Sketch Saturday for the DT's take on this sketch.

I'll be back again next week for another
 Great Sketch Challenge.
See you then...

Happy Birthday Balloons

Hosting this weeks Challenge at
is Cheryl and it is TREND  WEEK.
and she chose a popular trend at present
BALLOONS.

I have hot air balloon stamps but there wasn't
anything I could find that I thought suitable in my stash
balloon wise and I wanted to use the birthday kind
so I put out an SOS to my crafty friends
who I knew had some dies and asked them to cut some for me.
Well I received 2 envelopes full of different shapes and sizes.

Of course I went straight away to play with some...
okay I used just a few but liked the big balloons
so got out an old Cuttlebug Alphabet Die Set
and added the HAPPY to them.
Pretty easy eh? and then popped them onto
some iridescent shimmery paper.
Added some string to the balloons, a few random
sequins and gemstones and the big
birthday stamp from Cas-ual Fridays Stamps
heat embossed in gold to finish.

Pop over to our BLOG
and check out what our Guest Melissa
and Jugheads have made.

Another Tree for 'The House'

For the last few weeks at The House that Stamps Built
the Rock Stars have uploaded 2 techniques
 I haven't used before.
This weeks is to create a background with Painter's Tape
You can see the details Here from Deonna.
I have seen this technique before
but never got around to trying it out.
Now's my chance.
PS I have delayed starting making that birthday card
till the week end so I can concentrate on it fully. See last post.

This card is again for the DCC99 - Falling for Fall challenge

Now apart from very inky fingers this was a breeze
and makes a cas card with great effect.

Here are the products I used -
Brown/White card stock
Masking tape using
Memento Morocco/Peanut Brittle
Tim Holtz Dried marigold
Tim Holtz Speckles Stencil over the masked strips
Repeat Impressions Tree 1610
heat embossed in Terracotta
A few strips of scrap DP on the corners
Sentiment is from Cheery Lynn.

That's it for me for now

It's All Floral at Crafty Cardmakers

This week over at Crafty Cardmakers
Julie is hosting this challenge and wants to see creations
with floral embellishments.
Details can be found Here.

I had my base card stock, background stamp,
embossing folder and die all sorted
and was going to use my favourite stamp/die set
when I realized I had used it in last week's challenge
so couldn't do that - hence I went to my
drawers with bought flowers in and started
looking through what I would use.
Well I had flowers scattered everywhere
trying this one and that one till
I finally decided on a variety of coloured,
shape and sizes of my flowers.
***
I started with kraft card stock as my base
and Stampin' Up hexagon frame.
My background is inked with
Stampin' Up Woodgrain  in
Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap
The hexagon die is embossed with
Cuttlebug Textile folder and popped.
Flowers are from my stash.
The vines behind them are from Kaisercraft
as is the pearls.
Sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping
cut from JustRite Vintage Labels
and inked with SU Rich Razzleberry.

I am also entering this card at
My Time to Craft for their Challenge #303 Flowers.

An Apple a Day they say ....

This week at Just Us Girls
Lisa as Hostess has challenged us with our
Word Challenge and chose Apple.

Now it just so happens I don't have a single apple stamp
in my stash so I thought I would Google and find an image.

It's time to play at 'The House'

It's the beginning of a new month and that means
NEW CHALLENGES
at my favourite blog The House that Stamps Built
Here is the first for the month and is a

It took me an age to find a Repeat Impressions stamp
to use on my card but my Mojo wasn't with me so I
decided to just use the beautiful sentiment and
add some scrap DP.
I did just that but in the end the bottom was too bare so
I found the perfect little stamp to finish it off.

The sentiment is from Repeat Impressions
Beautiful Days cut from
Spellbinders Labels 20
The flowers are the Flowering Vine.
I popped the strips of DP to a yellow backing
with white card stock as my base.
The flowers were inked with Stampin' Up
Yo Yo Yellow.
Ribbon from my stash
Tiny Pearls finished it off.

When I was making this card I wasn't happy how it was
turning out but since it is finished I am much happier
especially as I think the flowering vine finished
my card off nicely. I hope you think so too.

I have another card in mind for this challenge
so check back soon to see what I  came up with.

Thanks for dropping in

A Floral Birthday

It is a rainy dreary day here so I thought it a great chance
to pop back into my play station and create another card for
You can find their blog Here

I started with brown yellow and white card stock.
The white I had already cut the corners
so I have 2 postings in a row with rounded edges.
I stamped the frame which is from
Gina K Designs in Close to Cocoa - SU
My flowers are also from Stampin' Up
The large one is Flower Shop. A dear friend
sent me a bunch of them as I didn't have that set.
The smaller ones are Petite Petals
inked in Close to Cocoa and
Tim Holtz Antique Linen.
Sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping
Added a Kaisercraft leaf die
Kaisercraft Pearls
Liquid Pearls and a Dew Drop
Tucked in a few sprigs from a Martha Stewart die
Finished with ribbon from my stash.

That's it for now so till next time

A Happy Hello!

While I was browsing Blog Land I came across
a great new site to me.
The current challenge there is to make a card
without patterned paper.
You can find all the details Here

Now this was right up my alley as I love to play
with stencils so went into my play station
and created this simple and colourful card.
***
I used a coloured card base that matched my
speckles and feathers.
Here are the products I used -
Stampin' Up Four Feathers Die/Stamp Set popped
Tim Holtz Speckles/Splatters Stencils
Tim Holtz Distress Inks -
Peacock Feathers/Abandoned Coral/Frayed Burlap
A bow in Jute
Kaisercraft Pearls
Inspired by Stamping - Big Hello Stamp.

I really liked how the distress ink made
the sentiment look splotchy as it blended in
with the stencilling.

So there it is - a great way to relax after a hard
morning in my garden weeding.

Thanks for dropping in.

It's Time to Shake at Try Stampin' on Tuesday

It isn't often enough we try our hands at a
SHAKER CARD
and that is exactly what we are asking you to do
this time round at

Here is the sketch thanks to Sarah.

Shaker cards are always fun to make - just a little
time consuming sometimes and with luck
you don't get your shaker bits everywhere
while doing so.

Here is what I came up with to use on mine -
White/Red/Pink card stock.
I stencilled the background with
Memory Box - Texture Waive in
Memento Love Letter &
Stampin' Up Melon Mambo
Darkroom Door Stars Background Stamp
Spellbinders Circles/Lacey Circles
Large/Small Star Punch
Star Sequins
The 'Happy' is die cut from
Impression Obsession
Unfortunately I forgot to write down the
name of the Birthday Wishes sentiment
and went looking but
no doubt I will find it another time.
Finished with a few red gemstones.

Thanks for dropping by.

Choices Choices - The Current Challenge at Sketch Saturday

I popped over to Sketch Saturday Here
to see what their new challenge was
and what a lovely surprise.
As it is the 5th Saturday we get to pick
which Sketch we would like to play with.

Now it wasn't easy to pick so I scrolled through all of them
and decided on the one below.
#281

Why? Well I get to ink up one of my favourite stamps
from Stampin' Up - Fifth Avenue Floral.

I started off with the basic white card stock
then matted with the 2 colours from the flower.
I scored the right side then added
a strip of mulberry paper.
The flower was heat embossed in white
and I cut 3 after inking them with
 Stampin' Up Rich Razzleberry and
Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers.
Behind the flower is matted with an
embossed piece of paper using
Spellbinders Circles and
Lacey Circles at the back in white.
Sentiment is from Gina K Designs.
Finished my card with several
scattered rhinestones.

I would also like to link this card up with the
current challenge over at Robynsfetish
for their SQUARE CARD.
and
for their Challenge #325 - LAYERS

Thanks for stopping by.

It's Inspiration Week at Just Us Girls

Chris is Hosting this weeks challenge at
Just Us Girls and it is
INSPIRATION WEEK.

I had fun with this one using my gelatos.
I had them out a few weeks ago and made lots
of leaves while I was at it.
I used brown and iridescent card stock then
added a piece of distressed gold
corrugated cardboard.
My leaves are from Cuttlebug dies and have been scrunched
and attached to Spellbinder Labels 18 die.
Added a big gold button and some pearls.
Inked lightly from Tim Holtz Speckles Stencil
either side of the image
Sentiment is from JustRite Labels 20
inked with Memento Pistachio.

Don't forget to pop over to
Our Blog for more inspiration from
The Design Team and our Guest
Karen Bourke.
Hope you get a chance to play this week.

I'm Hosting the Colour Challenge at Just Us Girls

It's my turn to Host at Just Us Girls for Colour Week.
I chose Black Grey and Red.

And of course I chose 2 of my favourite stamps.
The background is from JustRite - London Background
inked with Memento London Fog.
My main image is from Stampin' Up Feeling Sentimental
heat embossed in red.
This stamp reminds me of my visit to London
and the phone booth is so very British.
I have used red cs as my base and also black and white.
The phone booth is popped with
distressed white and grey backgrounds.
I added a little red spritzing and a red gemstone.
The Hello from Lawn Fawn
has been cut in black white and red paper
and built up for added effect.
Finished off with 3 little strips of coloured ribbon.
***
Hope you like my choice of design and colours
and you get the chance to join us this week.
If you do you will be in the running for our
