Word Week at Just Us Girls

Hello and Welcome to Word week at
Vicki is Hosting and chose WATER!

My cards aren't normally what you associate water with
but MO and JO got lost.
Just one of those times nothing wants to work and the
waste paper basket gets a workout.
Smooched background are Distress Inks.
The leaves on the first card are from STAMPlorations
 adding umteen stamped raindrops from
Carabelle Studio then with glossy accents.
Found an itty bitty stamp that worked with the leaves.
(It's Autumn in Australia)

The other card is from my bits box
and stamp is also STAMPlorations -
Blossom Sprays 1 heat embossed
and partly bleached.
I found the Katzelkraft KTZ146
waterfall stamp and though it would work
heat embossed  cascading over the floral image.
Adding this sentiment
as I needed a sympathy card for a neighbour.
Our Guest Donna and the Team however
had no troubles creating fabulous water themed cards
for you to pop over and check out.
Be inspired and add yours to the gallery.

PS MO and JO returned so you will see
a bit more creativity from me again next week.

It's the Simple Things!

It's Friday and July which means
our New Anything Goes Mixed Media Challenge
Here is what I have been playing with -
something fairly simple as June flew by too quickly.

It all started with a piece of cardboard
exposing the corrugations and adding texture paste
in metallic white with opaque crackle paste to the bottom.

Adding my bits and bobs -
flowers I cut twice, not sure which I would use.
The cream material is a meshy material I got from my sister
so no idea what it is but managed to cut it with a
piece of paper behind it for stability.
A bit of  torn inked paper that was from a fish and chip shop
that I quickly separated knowing I would use it crafting.
Washi tape, part napkin and some cheesecloth.

close up of the crackle and flower

Finished with a few tiny flowers on the side with liquid pearls
to the centre. Also a pearl to the big flower and
simple AA&Create sentiment from a MFT die.

We have two talented Guest this month -
Welcome Henriet and Majda's.
Check out their Mixed Media Makes
and be inspired also by my
Talented Team Mates creativity and
head off to your play place and add yours to the Gallery.

Please be aware that for Mixed Media
we are looking for multiple mediums eg:
inks, paint, pastes, layers, fibres, canvas,
cardboard, die cuts just to name a few.
The sky is the limit to your imagination just have fun.

Treasure your Blessings...

Hello and Welcome to my playtime for the current challenge at
where they have another fabulous colour board Here

My card is a simple design but inking the
leaves in the above colours took some time.
I always enjoy the colourful results you get with
Lindy's Magical's. I used the Haunted Halloween set.
Die cut a few incase one didn't turn out so was able to add
a couple of extra branches.
Behind the leaves I cut a stitched arch and popped it.
Added my STAMPlorations sentiment and a single leaf.
Randomly placed coloured pearls and a few
drops of glossy accents (but a little hard to see).
I used linen card stock as base and for the arch.
Thanks for dropping in.

Hello Summer!

Hello and Welcome to today's post for
Carol Mc is our Host for Die Week
choosing the Word Summer
As with each month we have a New Guest Designer
Welcome to Donna Mikasa

Summer blew north a little while ago
and it isn't beach weather here in the Tropics.
When the temp goes below 20c - it's cold.
(funny though I am heading to the beach today with a
bunch of Ladies for our monthly Lunch)
ok enough waffle!

I had fun creating my  'summer' card,
with so many itty bitty dies scattered over my craft space.
I pulled out a colourful shaving cream piece from my bits box
and used it to it's end, adding other bright colours
to blend in. Stamped the seagulls and inked the background.
Die cut the big sun then the sand to place the items
you take to the beach -
bag, big ball, mobile phone and sunnies,
taking out the flip flops (thongs) and hat.
Finished with the perfect STAMPlorations sentiment
and on to card base.
PS the min temp will get above 20c in a couple of days
but will be fresh and windy by the beach today.
Now head over and see the first fabulous summer card
from our Guest Donna and more fabulous fun creations
from my Talented Team Mates.
The gallery is going to be full off summer in
so many different ways.
Be sure to check out Carol's description.
Looking forward to seeing how everyone went with
the 'Summer' Die cuts.

UPDATE! Sending this over to The Inspired Challenge
thanks to my team mates above.

Hello!

I recently found another new to me challenge at Sunday Stamps
that caught my eye and I do like a colour challenge
so I had a play with the gorgeous colours below

Here's my make using four of the colours.

My background is SU Timeless Texture stamps (retired)
inked randomly with VersaFine Clair Morning Mist.
Die cut with MB Pinpoint Frame.
The background for my popped hollyhocks
is smooched with Lindy's Magical Nantucket Pearl set
as is the flowers although they look different
and inked again with Tim's Stormy Sky
with a stamp from the above set.
(colours used are the two apricot shades, blue
and the dark steely one)
Attached to the frame and added a simple
Hello sentiment from STAMPlorations cut
from MFT cicrcle die. Adhered to white card base.
Thanks for dropping by

Something 'Beautiful'

going with a fun theme
'CRITTERS'

Here's a more detailed photo of the dragonfly.

I had one part of Tim's dragonfly tail left over on my desk and
worked perfectly with our 'critters' challenge coming up.
I tried to pick out similar colours for my bug using
Lindy's Autumn Leaves Magical's,
Tim's Antique Bronze Distress Stain
and Stampendous Aged Copper Embossing Enamel.
Even die cut out one from plain coloured paper
and attached it to the bottom layer.
Of course there are 'splatters'
Die cut a simple panel to rest the popped dragonfly
adding some Liquid Pearls to the centre.
Finished with sentiment from STAMPlorations.
Attached to white base.
Head over and check out the critters that
my Team Mates used to fill our blog with.
Sure to be a fun filled critter gallery this time round.

For You!

It's Stencil Week at Just Us Girls and
this weeks Host is Bobby.

I love just simple stencilling and that is what
I have done here inking up a couple in the background
coloured firstly with Lindy's screamin' banshee black
which comes out with the most 'magical' colours.
The purple one on the right is AALL&Create
and the grey on the left - Kaisercraft.
Inked my TH flower with Versafine Clair Nocturne.
Added splatters to add a bit of colour
then framing and a Cecile touch on the side.
Die cut sentiment is Impression Obsession.
Adhered to SU card base.
Pop over and check out the last beautiful card
our Guest Joaanne created for us
and the Team's amazing variety then
head off and play, adding yours to our Gallery.
A Big Thank You to Joanne for sharing her talents
with us this month.

Sending this over to the Inkspirational Challenge for

Just Us Girls Mood Board.

It's Just Us Girls Mood Board Week.
Welcome - Our Host this week is Vicki and has chosen
a beautiful seaside scene for inspiration.
How could you not be !

A Bigger View!

I got out a really old JustRite Poppies stamp
inking with VersaFine Clair Nocturne, heat embossed clear
colouring with Brusho's Brilliant Red/Leaf Green
with a touch of Lindy's Cuckoo Clock Cardinal
onto canvas paper - hence the photo looks a little blurry (sorry)
Background is coloured with Brusho's Ost Blue.
Centres are touched up with black and gold posca pens.
Sentiment is from the poppy stamp set.
Die cut with my arch dies and framed in black
onto white card base, hand cut and folded at top.
Head over and check out how our Guest Joanne
and the Team were inspird by that lovely
seaside scene with those beautiful poppies
and come join in with yours.

Let's Here it for the Boys!

Our  New Cut It Up Challenge is LIVE!
and it's all about creating something Masculine

I knew I wanted bold colours to go with the die cut cogs
I was going to go with.
I landed up with allsorts of colour using gold paper
paints and spray stain. Heat embossed clear
then inked with VersaFine Clair Pinecone.
The background is dp.
Sentiment from ARTplorations is
die cut in coloured papers to match. Birthday stamped, cut and popped.
Attached to coloured card base.
Check out what my Talented Team Mates
created for their Masculine Make and
created something for the male member in your life
and add to our Gallery.

1 2 3 and so on...

It's Word Week at Just Us Girls.
Our Host Carol M is asking us to use a
NUMBER on our card.

I think I got that covered LOL!
Had a bit of fun with the background
using a bit of stencilling, inking and stamping
with Tim's OX Hickory Smoke.
It didn't come out as I wanted
but I think it looks better that if the images were clear.
Script stamping is Versafine Clair Cheerful.
The beautiful floral image is from
AALL&Create Delight in Flora coloured with
Lindy's Yellow Rose of Texas,
Tim's Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss.
Sentiment is from AALL&Create Power of the Word set.
Framed in black onto yellow card base.
Head over and see how our Guest Joanne
and the Team worked their numbers
and join in the fun by adding yours to our Gallery.

My Creative Mixed Media Make

It's time for my monthly Mixed Media Make for
I had a lot of fun creating this piece
(including the most colourful fingers)
with a whole bunch of different mixed media products
which spread all over my desk and beyond.
Luckily some were able to be put back in their rightful spot
before continuing on another day.

I started by picking my colours using
Tim's oxide's in Crackling Campfire and Peacock Feathers
through my new AALL&Create Cherry Drift stencil
flipping it first and inking then
reinked it and coloured

Adding some extra colour with
Art Alchemy Metallic Fresh Orange
and Emerald Green paint.

The inky fingers came from the hours spent
colouring my TH dragonfly
using them to get coverage on the ox inks
before starting on the dramatic colours below.

Here's the products that cluttered my desk
Stampendous Aged Copper Enamel,
Lindy's Pumpkin Fiesta E/P, Gecko Green Spray,
Tim's Ground Espresso,
AA Mint Sparkle and Patina Green Wax.
Some were used on a sheet of W/C paper
for my Spellbinder Hexagons
with some added random stamping

Next I will add a couple of floral dies to place
behind the dragonfly.

I inked the edges of my project and
the hexagons, added some gold posca splatters,
a strip of washi tape,
some cheescloth behind the flowers
 and one of Tim's Quotations.
Attached the dragonfly with a pearl to the centre.
Decided not to add the other piece of the die
as it covered up the bright orange tail.

Embossed some metallic paper with
Couture Creations E/F, framed with orange leathergrain c/s
framed with the metallic paper
and again matching coloured paper and onto cardboard backing.
Attached brads and paper clip with added patina wax.

Here's a few close ups -

And there you  have it!
Oh and it finally finished at  7/12" by 9''
Head over and see what our Guest Betta and my Talented Team Mates
created to  get your mixed media juices flowing
like mine did
and join in with yours to our Gallery.
You have a whole month to play!
