IBS WHW Tutorial #112 - Coloured Vellum Flower Challenge

Here is my second card I have made today for the

This was relatively simple as I love the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set
and the Manhattan Flower embossing folder
from Stampin' Up as they work so beautifully together.

I used basic white card stock as my base and embossed the purple paper.
I inked the vellum rose with different coloured inks.
Added some stamped leaves from a MS punch and a pearl to the centre.
The sentiment is cut from Spellbinders Labels 20 and Stamp is from GinaK.

Thanks for taking a peek at my blog today.

Tutorial Challenge at Inspired by Stamping.

There is a great new tutorial over at Inspired by Stamping
and it is to make a card with coloured vellum.

I haven't used too much vellum but after seeing this great tutorial
I thought it time I got that vellum stash out and had a play with it.

I was also having some fun with a few new products I had purchased recently.
They were Ranger's Sticky Embossing Powder and Twinklets Diamond Dust.

I used basic red card stock for the base and added some designer paper.

Also used
Spellbinders Fleur De Lis
GinaK Vogue Vases stamps set
IBS Elegant Flowers.
Vellum
White Embossing Powder

I stamped the IBS flower onto the vellum and inked the image.
It wasn't as dark as I wanted so cut out another flower and attached it to the back.
I embossed the vase with the sticky embossing powder
and then sprinkled the diamond dust to it. It gives it a crystal like look.
It is a shame the photograph doesn't show the rhinestones as sparkly as they are.
Finished off with some glitter around the Fleur De Lis.
Don't know if I added a bit to much bling
but felt that it needed something especially as the vase was so sparkly.

I enjoyed this tutorial and will be making more before this challenge ends.

Thanks for stopping by.

Alter Something for Challenge 8 at Crafting with Dragonflies.

Time for our next Challenge over at

Crafting With Dragonflies Challenge Blog

We don't want you to get into a rut and just make cards for our challenges
so this time we are asking you to

ALTER SOMETHING.

Our sponsors for this challenge are

Time to get your thinking caps on.
There are a gazillions ideas that you could use and I am sure there are
plenty of items around the house that need a little attention
to spruce them up and become masterpieces.

So what are you waiting for?
oh some inspiration from the Design Team!
OK...
I was fortunate to get a coloured digi (New Rose Vintage Photo)
from one of our sponsors Crafts and Me
and because I was so lucky I decided to alter a few items
we all have near our computer or office.

Here is what I started with

a container I received when I purchased some pens.

a notebook for jotting down 'important notes'

an acrylic frame and post it notes for reminders.

****

I covered the pen case in designer paper my digi image
some ribbon punched flowers
and a pen tag.

My Notebook I covered with different paper
followed by distressed designer papers
lace and digi image and added some
gloss to the flowers.

Here is a close up view.

and finished off my projects with some designer paper
at the back of my acrylic frame then
added my digi image and note tag
and adhering the sticky notes to the front.

 The finished Items.

Now it is your turn to have a bit of fun.

But don't forget to pop in to my other Design Teamies
to see what they have altered too

I look forward to seeing what you find around your house
for items you can alter.

Inspired by Stamping - masking tutorial and challenge - WHW111

Hello again - I had some spare time up my sleeve
and since I enjoyed making a card yesterday for the challenge below

I decided to make another one.

I used some Kaisercraft stamps - the background for the masking
and the Eiffel Tower to highlight.

After I had masked and inked the image I decided to cut it out
pop it and distress the edges slightly.
I also inked the background with distress inks to add a bit of colour.
I inked the Eiffel Tower and then cut out another one which is also popped.
I thought the sentiment was a perfect match.
Who wouldn't love the be there?

Thanks for stopping by.

Tutorial Challenge over at IBS

One of the challenges over at Inspired by Stamping
is masking your background stamps and includes a TUTORIAL

I thought this perfect for the fabulous background stamp
a friend bought for me while in London.
The stamp is from Just Rite and is called
London Background Stamp (of course)

I decided to frame my stamped background image twice to make it stand out
and also added a tenny weeny IBS stamp from All Year Wishes to the corners.
The perfect ink to use on this card was - Tim Holtz Distress ink London Fog lol
I used Basic Red & White card stock scored the corners in 2 different ways
added a small pearl to Big Ben and a small sentiment
from Just Rite Friends Antique Labels One to finish it off.

Hope you like my take on the current  Tutorial Challenge over at IBS.

Thanks for looking

Crafting with Dragonflies - Challenge #7 - It's a WEDDING BLOG HOP

Hello again from

Dragonfly Design Team Badge

OUR NEW CHALLENGE -  A WEDDING BLOG HOP

I am really excited about our very first blog hop
and I am sure you will have a lot of fun along the way.

For our 7th Challenge we are doing something different.

Besides having a blog hop we have a cryptic quiz for you to work out -
it is really easy lol

What you need to do is
Grab yourself a cuppa and maybe something yummy to go with it (chocolate)
as this challenge has a bit of reading.

Now your settled we can get started -

Gather the words for the quiz that you will find HIDING somewhere in our write up about our weddings and put them together in the rhyme that I am sure you all know.
When you have worked it out let us know on the
CHALLENGE BLOG (COMMENTS) that you have completed the BLOG HOP
and email the rhyme to Susan at suhogan@gmail.com
and add Wedding Blog Hop in the Subject Line.

A LITTLE ABOUT MY WEDDING

As money was tight when I got married I was not able to afford everything new
so I decided to add a flower to my old shoes.
Nobody would notice or know as you don't really look
too closely at the bride's shoes.

I chose to make my card in a Vintage type style and colour
mainly because it was some years ago and I didn't wear a traditional white dress.
I wore cream and was lucky enough to know someone
who had a cream veil so I managed to borrow hers.
My bridesmaids were also a little different by wearing 2 different shades of pink.

I have very few wedding photos as most of them were destroyed by
Cyclone Tracy which destroyed Darwin on Christmas Eve 1974.
This is why I decided to do something a little fancy here
and this card will be placed in a shadow box.

So without further ado here is my Wedding Card.

Inspired by Stamping WHW #018 - creating frames

On my last post I showed you a card I made for
the Inspired by Stamping Ribbon Challenge.
I am so happy that my name was picked out as the WINNER.

some beautiful ones there for me to choose. Whoo Hoo

Their new challenge is to create a card using a frame.
Below you can click on the link to see how Joanne showed us how with her Tutorial.

How often do we use our dies but don't think of using
2 together to create a lovely frame.
That got me interested so I got to playing with
some new Spellbinder dies to do just that.
This is what I came up with.

I used the following products for my card

Basic white card stock
DP - Old World Mat Stack
Spellbinders Opulent Ovals
Spellbinders Vintage Lace Motifs
Cuttlebug Textile Embossing Folder
Distress Ink - Iced Spruce
GinaK stamp - Assorted Greetings
MS Punches - Hydrangea and Leaves
Fancy That Leafy Swirl
Flower - CR1204 by Marianne Designs
Kaisercraft Pearls
Liquid Pearls

I really enjoyed making this card for the challenge and hoping next time
I will have some lovely IBS stamps on my next project for you to drool over.

Till then

 HAPPY CRAFTING
and thanks for stopping by.

It's Music Music Music

Our colour challenge over at Outlawz this week  is Red Green & White and was chosen by Guylou and her twist - which we have every week is  ADD MUSIC.
Don't you just love these guys - could be 4 Tenors.

And where would we be without our generous sponsors. This month we have

and here is what I made as part of the Design Team
for inspiration for our many members.

It was a fairly simple card to make just adding red & green paper
after I embossed with swiss dots and some music notes.
Added my popped & glittered shamrock  from a Spellbinder cut out
and attached a small piece of Irish ribbon to match.

I am entering this card in the
