There's 'SNOW' One Like You

Lin is Hosting for our last Challenge of the year over at
Crafty Cardmakers
and she has chosen SNOW.

Now it is of course snowing in other parts of the world -
just not here but never fear a Crafty Friend sent me
the stamp set - There's Snow One Like You
by Gina K Designs (Thanks Verna)
It has come in sooooooooooo handy
and have used it lots.
For my background I inked blue card stock
with Memento Summer Sky/Paris Dusk.
I also masked a small circle for the moon
(a little hard to see behind the trees)
behind the stencil Garden Birch from Memory Box.
I then attached 2 snowy hills. The 3 trees are cut
and embossed from an old
Cuttlebug Christmas die set. I Kindy Glitzed them
as well as the lines of the snow.
My cute little snowman I fussy cut twice -
once for the main image and the second
with some scrap DP for paper piecing his
hat and scarf. Added a blue pearl for the pom pom.
I made a frame for the sentiment pole
  which is popped.
Punched a small star for the top of the
 tall Christmas tree.

Please pop over to Our Blog to see the
lovely snowy creations the DT have made
and hope that you still have a little time
to create that last minute card for our challenge.

I am heading north to tropical surroundings
at the end of the week to spend time with Family
 - hoping it won't be too humid
but AC will come in handy if it is.
I will be back early in the New Year so
no crafting for quite some time.
No doubt my finger will be itching to get
stamping again.

Till then I wish you all a
MERRY CHRISTMAS
and as the Scots say
A Guid New Year!

It's nearly 'Christmas Time'

This will be my last posting for Just Us Girls this year
as the Jugheads are taking a few weeks off
to celebrate Christmas with family and friends.

Lisa is our Hostess for our TREND WEEK
and she has chosen SEQUINS.

I am sure we all have containers full of sequins
and they are always fun to add to our cards.
I decided to make a shaker card in circle shapes
(cut out with Spellbinder  die)
with some bling to make them into Christmas decorations.
Again I went for non traditional colours..
The background to my baubles are inked with stars.
My card base is purple and topped with iridescent paper.
Baubles are filled with different sequins beads and a few
punched stars. I also added a few stars punched out
with glitter paper some rhinestones and sequins to finish.
My Merry Christmas die is again cut from Elizabeth Craft die.

Please pop over to our Blog Here
to check out the talented Design Team's creations.

I am heading to my daughter's for Christmas/New Year
and so looking forward to spending time with some of my family.
She lives in tropical Queensland
(we are further south)
so will be hot and humid.
Air conditioning will come in handy.

So to sign off for now I will say Cherrio
and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and
a Happy Safe and Healthy New Year.

Its a MERRY Christmas

Christmas time is fast approaching so I thought it timely
to choose MERRY as my WORD for this weeks Challenge.
My BFF gave me the Spellbinders Create a Flake 4 recently as
she found she had purchased it twice (lucky me)
so I just had to play with it and really happy how
my card turned out.
I love non traditional colours at Christmas time
so went for the softness for the snowflakes.
I cut multiple dies including an old
Cuttlebug Snowflake die added glitter
to a few of them and popped.
The embossing folder is also an old
Cuttlebug folder.
The Merry has been cut several times for depth
and top layer glittered.
Finished off with some bling.
Pop over to our blog for some lovely
MERRY cards from the Design Team
and I am sure you will be inspired to participate
in our Word Challenge.
Thanks for dropping by today.

'twas the Night Before Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner and Pamellia is Hosting at
Crafty Cardmakers & More and her theme is
'twas the Night Before Christmas
and we have printed out the words Here
for you to check so you can incorporate your card with
 something from the poem.

I decided to go with the Reindeer
(And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.)
and heat embossed my cut out image in gold.
My card stock is Kraft & White and the
DP is from Me to You
I have had the 3D holly stickers in my stash for years
and knew they were a perfect match for the DP
My reindeer is slightly popped and finished my card off
with some pearls.
***
Now it is your turn to come up with what inspired you.
It is a good excuse to continue with your
Christmas card making.
Look forward to seeing what it is.

It's Photo Week at JUGS

Vicki is our Hostess at Just Us Girls
for Photo Week and she has chosen a gorgeous photo.

I took my inspiration from the colours in the background
for my card stock and silver matting.
I heat embossed my Stampin' Up Snowburst stamps in silver and
masked the background with a Spellbinder die and inked with
SU Melon Mambo spritzed with water and Iridescent Medium.
Finished with a few stars and Starform Stickers.

I also decided to make another card with an old
Cuttlebug Christmas embossing folder as it had the
baubles from the inspiration photo. I used the same papers
added ribbon from my stash some bling and the
Merry Christmas die is from Elizabeth Craft
(which you will see a few times before the
end of the year) cut from sliver paper.

Pop over to our blog to see the beautiful creations
from our talented November Guest Louise
and the Design Team.
I am sure when you see this beautiful photo you will
want to join in. Hope to see you there.

A Floral Christmas Non Traditional Style

Christmas doesn't seem right without a Poinsettia somewhere
and perfect timing with my card for the current challenge at
The Mod Squad details - Here

Going with non traditional colours
(my favourite as Christmas is HOT where I live)
I used Celestial card stock as my base
topping that with  the same paper I embossed with
Stampin' Up Textured Expression Holiday Frame.
Then adding my Spellbinders Fancy Tags 2
and attaching Merry from Elizabeth Craft Designs in gold.
I got out my favourite Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia die
and only used the smaller ones multiple times.
Behind that I added ribbon with  leaves and fern
from Martha Stewart finishing with a single pearl in the centre.
***
Christmas is fast approaching and there is always so much to do
before the Big Day. I am heading off to spend some time
with my sister this week before heading north for
Christmas/New Year with family
so there won't be too many more postings for a wee while
  apart from those scheduled.

It's Another Birthday

I couldn't help myself - while I had vellum out I decided to play
again over at Seize the Birthday

This was a simple card really.
I used Kraft card stock and went from there.
Here is what I used -
Basic card stock
Kaisercraft Nesting Rectangles
Kaisercraft Blae & Ivy stamped
in the background with Versamark
Flower is Pickled Pear inked in
Memento Eldenberry
and topped with plain vellum.
Sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping
and finished with a cotton bow

Till next time

Sieze the Birthday Challenge

I needed a birthday card to take with me when I go on holidays
and I thought of Seize the Birthday so went over to see
what their Toppings were
and was happy to see Vellum or Acetate

I thought for a change I would try Acetate and while
I was searching in my stash I came across a heap
of patterned vellum that I have had for an age.
Found the perfect one as the Young Lady that
my card is for loves Orchids.
It doesn't look like vellum does it?

I started with my coloured card base
and then topped in with metallic gold
and cut and scored with
 Stampin' Up Textured Impression
and Edgelits
The vellum is called Orchid Translucent
Added some lace from my stash which is
lightly coloured with Memento Pistachio
I then went about making my flower and
ferns  using a variety of dies from
Marianne Designs -
CR1204 - LR 1902 - LR0229 - LR 1057
My sentiment is from GKD Fanciful Tags
(a favourite of mine as I love the font)
embossed in Gold
Finishing with some pearls.

I am glad I don't have to post this one
as the flower would get a little squashed.

Thanks for dropping in

Just for Judy

I couldn't go past this weeks challenge at
and not make this card with my friend Judy Woodland
in mind and not the challenge.

You see I know Judy loves the 4 Feathers from Stampin' Up
and her favourite colour is Purple (like mine)
I have already made a purple card for this challenge
but knew I had to make a feathered one too.
It's is a pretty simple card inking the
feather stamp with SU Rich Razzleberry
3 times (as my stamped background)
after I did a bit of stencilling
around them with Tim Holtz Speckles.
I cut out another feather after inking
with the Rich Razz and Memento Peanut Brittle
together and popped it.
The Hello is from Lawn Fawn and the
Friend sentiment is from
Inspired by Stamping.
Rounded the corners added a bow and
some pearls to finish.

Thanks for a great Challenge Judy.
I loved playing with that Stamp/Die Combo again

but wasn't happy with it so went in another direction.

Birthday Wishes for The Mod Squad Challenge

Here is another card I made for The Mod Squad
making your own stamped background.

Here is what I used -
Navy/White card stock
Background was inked multiple times with
Memento Peanut Brittle/Potters Clay ink
using SU Pocket Silhouettes and
GKD Whimsical Wishes
(including the sentiment)
and sponged around the bottom
SU Border Punch
Spellbinders Circles/Scallop Circles
SU Butterfly Die.
I spritzed a small section on the corner
before adding the butterfly.

Thanks for a fun Challenge Judy.

Inspiration Challenge at 'The House'

The current challenge over at The House that Stamps Built
is their Inspiration Challenge.
I thought long and hard with how I could make my card.
It certainly was challenging and after seeing the
current sketch over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday
I thought I could incorporate the 2 together.

Inspiration Photo
n1815

Sketch

I know I didn't get the twine
the correct way but after I had created my
scene it just didn't look right. But I am happy
how it highlight it. I decided that since I am
entering this in another challenge I couldn't use
the option of snowflakes.
Thanks Kaylin for a great sketch challenge.

For my scene  I masked either side of my paper
and started colouring using
Tim Holtz Stormy Skies
Memento Tuxedo Black
Peanut Brittle & Dandelion
My tree is from
Repeat Impressions 2710
and was stamped a second time
for the mirror image.
Birds are also Repeat Impressions 3412
Sentiment is SU Feeling Sentimental
cut from Spellbinders Petite Ovals
and coloured with same as above.
Added a touch of Iridescent Medium
around the sun & sky and
finished with a few sequins to match.

As always it is nice to see your comments
when you pop in.

It's beginning to look a 'Lot like CHRISTMAS'

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS isn't it
and how timely is our Hostess Sharyn's colour choices?
RED GREEN GOLD

I recently bought the Elizabeth Crafts
Quietfire Merry Christmas die
and found a beautiful card by Selma Stevenson
HERE which I cased.
My card stock is a shimmery gold card stock. I have used this
also to cut out my Merry Christmas die and leaves.
Matted with red and another shimmery paper in green.

I used the following dies -
Spellbinders - Big Scallop Rectangles
Merry Christmas die as above
Poinsettia flowers and leaves are by Marianne Designs
and I inked the edges in gold/red.
MS leaf and fern punches
Cuttlebug Christmas embossing folders
The centre flower has tiny beads to finish.

Hope you will pop over to  OUR BLOG
and check out all the amazing cards by our
November Guest Louise
and the Talented Design Team.
I'm sure these traditional colours will
inspire you to create a few more Christmas Cards
or you may want to go in a different direction.
Hope to see you there.

REMINDER -  For October & November Only:
If you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our October and November challenges,
you'll be in the running to be chosen as one of two

Challenge Time at The Mod Squad

A Very Talented and Special Crafty Friend Judy Woodland
is Hosting this weeks challenge at The Mod Squad
and she has asked us to
Create Our Own Background with Stamps.

I created my background by stamping
SU Lotus Blossom & Beyond Basics in Versamark
I then attached the banner inked
with Memento Sweet Plum
Eldenberry & Lulu Lavender.
Sentiment is from GKD
Finished off with a strip of ribbon and rhinestones.
A pretty simple card but love this stamp set as the
flower has 3 steps and it can be inked in so many
different colour combinations.
I chose my favourite this time.

While I was working on this card
I decided to play again so will upload that soon.

Thanks for popping in.

It's Snowing Silver for the Inkspiration Challenge #95 and The Mod Squad

the latest Challenge is
Anything Goes with Silver.

I love using silver on my cards at Christmas
as it is such a cooling colour. Nice for us in
Australia where Christmas is 'HOT'
I took 2 photo of my card to show the shiny
snowflakes and the silver side.
It's a shame you can't see the shimmer on those trees.
***
Here are the products I used -
White Silver & White/Silver speckle paper
Metallic Silver Embossing Powder
Versacolor Silver Ink
Snowflakes by SU Snow Burst
Merry by Elizabeth Craft Designs

Happy Brrrrrrrrrrth Day

Over at Crafty Cardmakers our new challenge is to
Make a Winter Birthday Card.
Josephine is Hosting this one.
Here is what I made.

Lucky for me we don't get snow where I live
so I had to go searching for something suitable
for this challenge. I did start another card
with a wintery theme but wasn't happy with it.
I decided to go and check out https://doodlepantry.com/
and came across a perfect set and pre coloured
(my favourite kind) I chose Winter Birthday
How appropriate...
A pretty simple card as I used one of the main images
cut out with a Spellbinder die
some of the pretty papers and sentiment.
Added a few punched balloons and string
Startdust Stickles for the snow and a few
scraps for the tiny banners.

Hope you will pop over to our blog and
check out what my Teammates have made
to inspire you and then come play with us.

Thanks for coming by today.

They're BIG BOLD BEAUTIFUL Jumbled Sentiments

the Designer's Choice is to Focus on the Sentiment.

I recently won a $25 voucher from Repeat Impressions
and chose one of their new sets - HELLO.
Unfortunately I haven't cut it yet so
decided to just use the whole stamp as is.
A little bit crazy eh!
I heat embossed it in white then made my
 water coloured background in
SU Melon Mambo/Baja Breeze
Tim Holtz Abandoned Coral/Forest Moss
It was then matted on colours to match the background.
The feathers from Stampin' Up are inked with
a few of the above colours.
Added some ribbon and a button and twine to finish.

Thanks for dropping in.
Love to read what you thought of my jumbled sentiment card.

I'm Celebrating Karen at 'Time Out'

Time Out Challenges are having a
'CASE' Challenge and have chosen
the talented Karen from Snippits.
She is super talented
and I regularly pop in to her blog to see what
wonderful creations she has been making.
Be sure to pop over and check her out for yourself.
You will be inspired.

Here is my take above on Karen's card below.

I also had the same stencil (Tim Holtz Clockwork)
as the one Karen used and had never used it till now.
I decided to try something a little different starting with
inking my paper with the stencil attached with
Tim Holtz Abandoned Coral then blotched
it with Mont Marte Pearl White Acrylic Paint
using my fingers to add depth and has added a lovely sheen.
Because of that I decided to add my sentiment
from Cas-ual Fridays to vellum embossed
with Tim Holtz Worn Lipstick.

I had fun making this as I love playing with stencils
and different mediums to see what effect you can create.

Thanks to the DT over at Time Out
for choosing Karen as their 'Case'.

I had made a few other cards before this one
so will pop them up just for you to have a look at
as they aren't quite the same as Karen's Case.

I would also like to enter this card over at one of my
Favourite Sites - The House that Stamps Built
for their Designer's Choice - Focus on Sentiment

What's TRENDING at Just Us Girls?

It's that time of the month for our
TREND WEEK
and our Host MARIA has chosen Watercolouring.
Now I had a LOT of fun with this one
even though as you will see it was a little messy
My craft mat cleaned up better than my fingers.

Here's what my mat look like after I spritzed with water
and inked up my watercolour paper.

I dried most of it off with my heat gun but then decided
to leave it overnight and finish it off the next day.
***
Here are the products I used -
Basic coloured card stock as my base
and embossed frame which is by Stampin' Up
and slightly popped.
Black for matting
The beautiful flower is from
Inspired by Stamping - Elegant Flowers
and heat embossed in black to the watercolour background
 popped for dimension.
Tag - JustRite
Sentiment - GKD
Several coloured inks
Kaisercraft ribbon slightly melted with heat gun
and finished with a few pearls.
Don't forget to pop over to Our Blog to
check out what our Guest Louise and
the Team have created with this fun challenge.
Hope to see you there.

For October & November Only:
If you are picked as Chic of the Week for any of our
