Did you SPOT what's Trending at Just Us Girls?

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls
and our Hostess is Nancy who chose
SPOTLIGHTING!

I made the background for this some time ago and
this piece was left over. It is the shaving cream technique
and I have done something a little different
by using Liquid Pearls - Daffodil & Avocado giving it a
nice sheen (which hasn't shown up) and SU Yo Yo Yellow reinker.
The gorgeous stamp is from Repeat Impressions
stamped with Memento Pistachio and the
popped up spotlight is cut from Spellbinders Hexagons.
I coloured the daffodil with watercolour pencils and
heat embossed it with clear embossing powder
giving it a glossy finish.
Added some black matting pearls and
cotton to finish.

If you haven't already been to Our Blog
better pop over and see what our June Guest Cornelia
has Spotlighted and my Team Mates - you know
you will love what they have made.
Love to see you join us and you would be in the running for
Chic of the Week and go on to be our Guest in August.

I will be in Craft heaven when this goes live. There is a
big Papercraft Convention in Brisbane (catching the train at 6am)
I go to yearly and meet upwith some online crafty friends.
I met a couple a few years ago
and last year a few more.
One came from Perth in Western Australia
and another from Melbourne Victoria.
This year we are making a week end of it and
we are all super excited.
To make it even more special I have
Cheryl Wright coming back to spend a few days
at my house before she returns to home.
She is a well known Author who is super talented
in the craft side as well.

Thanks for dropping in.

A Simple Hello!

Time for the latest challenge over at
Crafty Cardmakers and Kim's turn to HOST.
She has chosen a super popular Trend -
Monochrome.

When I made this card I was in water colouring mode
and I enjoy it so much.
I chose to make my monochrome with a touch of Colour.
My base is white card stock and I topped it
with the water colour technique using
Tim Holtz Cracked Pistachio/Peacock Feathers.
I also added a touch of speckles from Tim's stencil.
The Hello sentiment is from Lawn Fawn
and cut several times for dimension.
The Birthday Girl sentiment is from
Inspired by Stamping.
The butterfly is heat embossed and inked
from Cheery Lynn.
Lastly a row of pearls and paper pierced.
***
Hope you will pop over and see what my Team Mates
have made - inspired you and you get to
join us in this challenge.

It's Photo Week at Just Us Girls

Lisa is our Host over at Just Us Girls this week
and has chosen this gorgeous photo below
for us to be inspired by...
What caught my eye?
The first thing was the wallpaper in the background
so my first job was to find an embossing folder
and ink it up - Cuttlebug Stylized Flower
with SU Yo Yo Yellow
I couldn't help but then notice the flowers
in such a pretty pink colour.
My Spellbinder Romantic Rectangles
was used for the backing for the focal point.
This was popped and inked with
Memento Angel Pink
Got an old GKD stamp set out
Vogue Vases - maybe one of the first ones
of Gina's I bought.
I inked the leaves in Memento Olive Grove
fussy cut the flowers twice once with
plain pink paper and the second with scrap DP
The big vase was popped and inked with sticky
embossing powder and I then added
Twinklets Diamond Dust which just
looks like crystal to me.
Added some ribbon and a strip
of mulberry paper to the back and a small strip
of paper to use as a shelf
finishing with pearls for the floral centres
and rhinestones in the background.

Don't forget to check out Our Blog
for lots more Inspiration and come join us
for your chance to be our
Chic of the Week and be in the running
for our Guest in July.

Thanks for dropping in

Sketch Time at 'The House'

It's the end of the month and that means

m2516

I find it hard sometimes to get my head around
a sketch and this was one of them.
However this is what I came up with.

I started with kraft card stock as my base
and then went searching for paper
through my stash and found a piece
of double sided dp and went from there.
I matted that first with some cream card stock
to blend in.
For the top part I cut the cream and dp
from Heartfelt Creations Layered Elegant Swirl and popped.
The sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping.
The gorgeous little butterfly is
Repeat Impressions - 108
cut from Spellbinders Circles
and attached to a Sue Wilson Vintage Lace Motif  die.
Touched up the butterfly with Wink of Stella
but is too fine to see.
Finished off with a few pearls.

Hope you like what I made and
Thank you for dropping in.

Another CAS card

I had my SU 4 Feathers stamp/die set out for
yesterdays post and kept playing with them as the
colours below for the CAS on Sunday Challenge
look great using this set.

My card base is close to the Mint Macaron.
Now for the messy but nice smelly shaving cream technique
using SU Melon Mambo (you should see my fingers)
Marina Mist & Memento Angel Pink
I attached that to white card stock and joined
together with ribbon.
The 3 feathers are inked again with Melon Mambo
and Baja Breeze.
Sentiment is from SU
Finished with a button cotton bow
and some bling.
I seem to be a cas mode at present and enjoying it.

Thanks for dropping in.
I love reading your comments.

Colour Challenge #174 at CAS Colours & Sketches

it's Colour Week. Details Here

It was a little hard to photograph with the silver paper
and trying to make the metallic silver speckle card stock show up.
I hope this counts as CAS.
I got my SU 4 Feathers die and stamp set out
and cut 1 feather with the silver paper and topped
with cobweb paper. The other 2 are inked with
SU Rich Razzleberry & Baja Breeze.
I popped the silver background paper
and attached my feathers.
Sentiment is from SU and die cut
from JustRite .
Added some speckles from Tim Holtz stencil
rounded one corner and a cotton bow to finish.

Thanks for dropping in.
Love reading your comments.

It's Your Day!

I have had time to play again with the Inspiration Challenge at
Details Here
m1816
I decided to once again use the water colour technique
for this card using Memento Olive Grove.
The floral image is from
Repeat Impressions 4308W - Lily of the Valley
and is heat embossed in black.
The tiny buds are coloured with a pink tom bow pen.
Behind my image is embossed with
Craft Concepts Cherry Blossom
which is a little hard to see.
Matted in pink and a MS punch to the side.
This is popped for dimension and
added some variegated pink cotton
and sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

Thanks for dropping in. Love reading your comments.

A Beautiful Day.

I recently saw a beautiful stamp from Altenew
used by fellow Design Team Members  and
knew I had to have it. You know the feeling!

I thought the current challenge at
The Mod Squad  for their
would be ideal to try my new stamps out.
I have used Altenew Peony Bouquet and
 Beautiful Day for the sentiment.
I know I need a bit of practice to get the best
out of that beautiful stamp set.
I masked the flower so I could arrange the greenery.
Inks used  are Memento Pistachio
Eldenberry Sweet Plum & Lulu Lavender.
Needing a little something here I got out my
Tim Holtz Speckles stencil
scored the top and bottom
and added some purple gemstones.

Thanks for dropping in
I love reading your comments.

Photo Inspiration Time at 'The House'

Once again it is time for the Inspiration Challenge over at

m1816
I was inspired by the beautiful pink flowers
so I chose to use
Repeat Impressions stamps 1706 I
for my main image
coloured with watercolour pencils
and 4314K for the background
stamping multiple times inking with
Stampin Up Melon Mambo.
We did a card similar to this at a card class recently
and liked the look so decided to do something similar.
I recently bought the Tim Holtz Mixed Media
die set so was anxious to use it. This was popped
to show off the flowering vine .
I inked the corner with Melon Mambo and
popped the main image in front of it.
Sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping and
punched from a McGill punch.
Finished with a few pearls.
I am also entering this card over at
Sieze the Birthday for their 'Toppings'
which is 'Dimension'.

Thanks so much for popping by.

Having a A Stitching Time

There's a new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers
Maike is hosting and has chosen  Stitching, Faux or Real.
You can enter anything you fancy,
it doesn't have to just be cards,
as long as it meets the challenge,
and doesn't exceed the 15 total challenges entered rule!

I have had this card for quite some time and it was
the first time I had ever tried embroidery on a card
so you will see some  mistakes. This was made
at a card day and the cotton and card base were supplied.
However it was rather plain so I needed to
finish it off. I decided to keep it simple and
add a sentiment from Spellbinders
and a few coloured gemstones to finish.
I so enjoyed making this and have a few books
and supplies to play with but alas they have been neglected.
I did start to make another card for this challenge but
time was running out.
***
Now pop over and see what my Team Mates have
made for this challenge.
Hope you get the chance to join us.
Thanks for dropping in

Scrapping on!

I could just keep going with trying to use up some of my
scraps and would be doing so for the rest of the year
but the challenge over at The House that Stamps Built
Details Here
closes in a few days so...
This is the last one.

This one was a bit fiddly. My patchwork sister
would have had this done in no time.
As you can see here - quite a few more scraps
than my last 2 cards.
I just made a patchwork type layout and added a
Repeat Impression Butterfly (108F)
touched up with Wink of Stella.
Used a hole punch for the trail.
My sentiment is also from
Repeat Impression - Hello Stamp Set.
Added the big Hello to the inside.
***
So that is it for this super Challenge
from Rock Star Joy.
Thanks for dropping in.

Another 'scrappy' card

So many scraps so little used so
more time to play at The House that Stamps Built
Details Here

Once again I have gone for a cas design
using some scrap kraft card stock
and a couple of coloured ones.
The stamps are from
Repeat Impression -
9706W
1706I Wild Violets
and 1713J Dandelions
heat embossed in white
and popped.
My sentiment is from
Inspired by Stamping - Hello.

I have been having so much fun using up
just a few scraps so I made one last card.
This will follow from this entry.

Thanks for dropping in again

A Floral Thinking of You.

Once again it is time for a new challenge at
and this time round it is a Sketch.
I love getting away from straight lines
so this challenge suited me nicely.
As you can see I flipped the sketch
and went from there.
I used kraft and coloured card stock.
Added a scrap piece of DP  and used
the same paper for my flower which is from
Die-namics.Other punches are from Stampin' Up
and Martha Stewart.
Sentiment is from Gina K Designs
and finished with a pearl in the centre
of my flower.
A pretty simple sketch and such a cas design.

I am also entering this card at

Trying Something New!

Over at The Mod Squad
I found this amazingly different technique
that I just had to try.
It is called Retiform Technique and was so much fun.
My friend Donna is hosting and after seeing her cards
I decided since I had never done this before
I would attempt to case her card.
Details Here

Here is how and the products I used -
Coloured card stock as my base and backing.
I then got out my sticky notes and started inking
using Memento Peanut Brittle/Sweet Plum &
Tim Holtz Milled Lavender/Cracked Pistachio
I did miss a few bits with the masking and thought of
adding a pen mark to cover but was worried
I would mess it up.
I got out my stamps
Shenanigans/Wonderful Words from
CAS-UAL FRIDAYS STAMPS
http://cas-ualfridaysstamps.com/
and Inspired by Stamping Hello/Trendy Circle Sentiments
and embossed them in colours to match.
I decided to go with just sentiments as they say it all.
Added a bit of spritzing to finish.
I can now say I have tried a new technique.

Thanks for popping in

Scrappy Time at The House.

It's Designer's Choice at The House that Stamps Built
and Joy certainly picked one that we can all relate to -
Details are Here

Of course we ALL have a box full of scraps kept
for just this type of challenge.
Do you find it challenging to put a card
together with scraps? I didn't for this one
as it is really cas. I am playing around with
another one that is a little time consuming.
(More on that to come)
Here I used just by chance a variety
of purple/lilac coloured card stock I had
left on my desk to make but somehow
I got side tracked and forgot what it was for.
My favourite colours so made it Christmas!
My supplies included
Lilac Card Stock
Pearlescent Textured Card Stock
Mulberry Paper in 2 shades
Glitter Paper
My Noel which is from Repeat Impressions 2107
is cut from a Spellbinder die sitting on my desk
and popped
Framelits Banners - Stampin' Up
Corner Rounder.
***
And there you have it.
Thanks for dropping by.
I will be back again soon.
Till then Cherrio from

A touch of bling with the rhinestones.
