Birthday Wishes

Here I am again still in the Watercolour Mood and such
perfect timing for me to play over at The Paper Players
as their Challenge #304 is

I have been playing with this new stamp a few times now -
you will see it again in a few weeks.
The lovely stamp is called Watercolour Poppies #719
from Rubbernecker Stamps.
I inked this stamp on watercolour paper
colouring and blending with Tim Holtz distress inks
Evergreen Bough/Squeezed Lemonade and
Memento New Sprout
adding a touch of white with a uniball pen
to the centre of the flowers
a bit of spritzing and finished with
my SU sentiment cut from Spellbinder dies.

Thanks for dropping in.
Love reading your kind comments.

You Inspire Me

A dear friend recently gave me a Mixed Media Canvas
and I fell in love with the concept. I have always admired
that sort of craft and since we were at
a Craft Show - what better time to buy a few products
required for this type of art.
Just by chance I saw a blog called Stamps & Stencils
with a challenge that caught my eye Here
This gave me a chance to experiment and try my hand
at a bit of mixed media. I must admit I just went with
the flow hoping what I did turned out okay.

I love using corrugated cardboard and string
so that was my choice - middle row down.
I have used so many bits and bobs here but will
endeavour to list a few.

Gesso and gelatos for my flower - just played with it
and didn't know if I would even use it.
Kraft card stock
Corrugated cardboard and the piece I pealed off
was used for my tag.
I used  Tim Holtz distress inks
SU and Memento inks
Bokeh stencil for my circles
Scrap DP torn and inked adding script
from Kaisercraft stamp.
Texture Paste and paint to the cardboard
My flower consists of a Marianne Die
and DieNamics Die inked and a centre pearl
Added the necessary string
Sentiment is from Altenew

I must admit I enjoyed playing with this
but it left my craft room and my fingers in
an awful state.

I would also like to add this to the
Ooh la la Challenge for their
Challenge #209 Texture

Thanks for dropping in
and love to read your comments
on my practicing Mixed Media.

A Simple 'Thinking of You'

Once again it is our
Colour Week at Just Us Girls and Bobby has chosen
these amazing colours below.

I have a friend who needed a little cheering up
so decided to make a cas pick me up card.
I have used Woodgrain card stock
and topped that with an image from
SU - Inspired by Nature which I
heat embossed and sponged the background with
SU Melon Mambo/Calypso Coral
and Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade.
This was popped with the black frame.
Added a few drops of water to add to the effect.
My sentiment is from GKD and I
finished with 3 different sized pearls close to
the colours above.

Don't forget to pop over to Our Blog to see what
Our Guest Carol Mayne has created and
of course the very talented Designers.
Hope you can join us and maybe you could be
our next Chic of the Week.

Thanks for dropping in

A Simple Happy Birthday

I found this blog recently called
Watercooler Wednesday and they have a
CAS Butterfly Themed Challenge.
Now I, like most of you
I'm sure love butterflies and have a
mountain of them in our stash
so what better excuse is there to just get
one of those stamps out to play.
Details Here
I seem to be obsessed with backgrounds of late
and this is another one.
I have had a canvas paper pad for an age
and decided to try using it for my
watercolour background
using Tim Holtz Cracked Pistachio/Mermaid Lagoon
Peacock Feathers and Evergreen Bough.
Also added a bit more colours through
TH Speckles stencil. This was matted with the same
paper as my Happy Birthday from Spellbinders
attachedin a curved manner for effect.
The gorgeous butterfly is Gina K Designs
embossed in Teal.
I found it hard not to add some bling but
would not have been cas if I did.

Thanks for popping in.
I love reading your comments.
Till next time - Cherrio from

It's a 'Male Thing'

It's Designer's Choice at The House that Stamps Built
and for most of us we don't create enough cards for
the Males in our life. So thanks to Shirley we can add to our stash.
Details are Here.
I thought it fitting that I would make a background
using distress inks inking on water colour paper for
the beautiful bonsai stamp from
Repeat Impressions - 2409W.
I gave it a touch up with Gold WOS which is a little hard to see.
Added my sentiment from Stampin' Up
Backing it with white and rusty paper
which is scored. My card base is an olive colour.
A pretty cas card - just fitting for the Male Theme.

Thanks for dropping in.
I love reading your comments.

Bling it On!

Who doesn't LOVE a bit of BLING?
Well most of us do and I am sure Mary does
as she chose is Hosting our next challenge at
You can find the Details here

I couldn't resist an array of butterflies as they always
look lovely with a bit of bling on them.
I have used basic white card as my base and
popped the white ripple card stock.
The background script is from Darkroom Door
inking it and the edges with Tim Holtz Evergreen Bough.
Arranged a variety of butterflies from Sizzix
using scrap DP for added colour.
The main butterfly has the addition of vellum.
Finishing off with sequins and rhinestones.

Hope you will pop over to Our Blog to see
all things blingy from my Team Mates.
Love to see you join us.
Thanks for dropping in and I do
Love reading your Kind Comments.

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls and Hosting this week is
Vicki who chose Sponging.
So many different ways to play with this one!

This was an easy cas card to make and a nice male card.
I decided to sponge the background
and masked the top and bottom.
The stamp I used was purchased at a recent craft show
and is from Stamp It Australia - Large Conifer.
Inked this with Memento Northern Pine.
The background colours are -
Memento Bamboo Leaves and
Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade/Dried Marigold.
Card stock is white linen.
The tree was inked once and then stamped off
on either side giving it the lighter effect.
Sentiment is from GKD.
While the main tree ink was still wet I dusted it with
Elizabeth Craft cool diamond glitter.
Still a little hard to see here.

And there you have it.
Pop on over to Our Blog to see
more inspiration and we would love to see yours this week.

Thanks for dropping in.
Love reading your comments.

Guest Designing at Crafting with Dragonflies

Once again I am over at
Crafting with Dragonflies as I  have been invited
to be their Guest Designer.
Thank you Hilde for the opportunity to  be part
of the Team for July. So nice to be back with
some old Design Team Mates.

The challenge this fortnight is 'Summer Fun'
so my first thoughts went to the days when
we would enjoy the great outdoors biting into
an 'all day sucker' - that is what we call them.
***
For my card I cut out quite a few circles from
scrap DP with a Spellbinder Circle die.
I attached these in a circular motion around a large circle
cut from jac paper only using one sticky side.
(lollypops are of course colourful)
I have matted the background with coloured paper
and embossed one from a Couture Creations folder.
For my lollypop stick I cut up an old straw.
Added a button which I glittered to the centre
a bow on the straw and some coloured gemstones.
The sentiment is computer generated and the song -
Sunshine & Lollypops kept running through my head.
This was also cut from Spellbinder circle dies.
***
It may be the middle of Winter here in Australia
but like the Alan Jackson song may say
It's 5 o'clock somewhere - we can say
it's Summer Time somewhere and a
golden opportunity to get into this new challenge
and have some fun.
***
I look forward to seeing your interpretation
of Summer Fun over Here

Sun Sand and Surfin' in SUMMER!

What screams SUMMER?
Spending time at the Beach of course.
And this is the word that Maria chose
as Hostess for Word Week at Just Us Girls

So of course I went with the sand and surf for my card.

Now I did a bit of cheating here using a
pre coloured image from The Paper Shelter
 called Happy Times Beach Boy.
I went with the waive theme for my background
inking with Memento Potter's Clay
and is Memory Box Texture Waive.
Did a bit of distressing and layering.
Sentiment is from Paper Smooches
Branches at the bottom are also from Memory Box
and sponged again with Memento Potter's Clay.
Added some glossy Accents to the surfboard but too hard to see.
Welcome to Carol Mayne as our July Guest.
So nice to have you with us this month.
Hope you pop over to Our Blog
and check what everyone has made
using the word Summer.
 Thanks for dropping in

Anything Goes at The House

their current challenge is Anything Goes
and I found myself a little time to join in.

I inked up my Repeat Impressions Spring Tree 1610W
with Memento Northern Pine.
I recently purchases the Tim Holtz Thinlits Mixed Media dies
and love how you can pop it and add a piece of DP
in the background. This piece is from
Stampin' Up Going Places.
My sentiment is also from SU.
I have done a bit of sponging around the edges
and around the tree. Finished this off with
Wink of Stella highlighting the tree.

Thanks for dropping in.

Focusing on the Sentiment at Crafting with Dragonflies.

It's been a while since I have had time to play with
a few challenges and since it is Winter time in Oz
I have been able to spend
a bit more time in my play station.

I was a Designer over at Crafting with Dragonflies and due to
ill health my friend Hilde closed the site down for some time.
But as you all may know SHE'S BACK! and I thought
I would play with this fortnights challenge which is
to Make the Sentiment the MAIN FOCUS!

I went for a simple style so I could show off my sentiment
which is from Stampin' Up. The tags are also by SU.
Ink is SU Calypso Coral.
I used basic card stock some scrap designer paper and
some foam squares for dimension. The i in birthday is fussy cut
in the same paper as the background.
My card looked rather bare
so decided to get a paper punch and a craft punch and
add some circles .

Hi there Hilde Susan Wynn and CG.

Thanks for dropping in.

A Birthday card for Someone Special

I am Hosting our
Shabby Chic/Distressed Challenge over at
and have made my card for a special friend.
(just hope she doesn't see it before her birthday)

I have used metallic card stock in cream and pink.
The embossing folder is an old Cuttlebug one
called Floral Fancy.
Also used Spellbinder Squares/Scallop Squares
and Decorative labels 27.
My flowers and sprigs are from Martha Stewart.
Leaf is Kaisercraft.
The 60 is also from an old
Cuttlebug Alphabet Set.
Ribbon is Kasazz and have added a
pearl flourish and assorted sized pearls
from my stash.
Finished off with a pink stick pin.
Hope you will pop over and see what
fabulous creations my Team Mates have made -
be inspired and create a project and
join in our latest challenge.

Thanks for dropping in

A simple HELLO.

It's our Photo Inspiration Challenge over at Just Us Girls
this week and Chris is Hosting.
She has chosen this super summery photo for us to
be inspired by.
What caught my eye here?
The fence stood out first then I saw those
lovely bright boots with pretty flowers.
There is also the greenery behind the fence.

I decided to feature the fence which is cut from
DP from Doodle Panty as I didn't have any of those
super rain boots.
The flowers and greenery are from Stampin' Up
and the leaves are a Kaisercraft die.
The smaller flowers are from various punches
with liquid pearls in the centres.
Aded a few brown pearls to hold the fence together.
My sentiment is a new one I bought at a recent craft show
and is from Altenew.
Hope you will pop over to our Blog to see
what our Guest Cornelia
and my Team Mates have created
and look forward to seeing yours there.
You could be chosen as Chic of the Week and
be in the running for our Guest Designer is August.
Thanks  Cornelia for the pleasure of seeing your
beautiful work as our Guest for June and hope to see
more from you real soon.

Thanks for dropping by

What's the COLOUR choice at Just Us Girls?

It is my turn to host over at Just Us Girls
and since Winter has arrived where I live
I thought bright colours were in order -
and for those over the pond - you should be basking in
sunshine & hot weather.

I had all intentions NOT to have
flowers on my card BUT since I just
got a new die set from Nina' Things I had to try it out.
I couldn't seem to get  true colours for my card
when I photographed it so
after some thought I decided to make another card
using one of the other coloured flowers and
again using the same die for the leaves.

I cut 2 circles from Spellbinders
and backed it with pink inking with SU stamps and popped.
Added a bit of spritzing and gems.
Sentiment is from Inspired by Stamping.

I chose to use the pink die cuts here for the flower
continuing with a scrap piece of dp for the side,
pink cording, a small bit of embossing
from Couture Creations, some ribbon and
a MS punch.
I then cut out my leaves from a Kaisercraft die
attached my popped flower which was cut several times
adding a pearl to the centre.
Sentiment is from Paper Smooches -
I just loved that font when I saw it
and had to have it.
I corner rounded one side.

Hope you pop over to our blog and see what
Cornelia (Our June Guest) and my Team Mates
have created. They all have that WOW! factor.
I am sure you will love playing with these
bright colours. You could be chosen as our
Chic of the Week.

Thanks for dropping in

I have made my card for my dear hubby's birthday

having a little jam session on his own.
My guitar stamp is from Inspired by Stamping.
I went a bit grungy here using several
stencils in different colours and a bit of spritzing.
I recently bought Tim Holtz Mixed Media Die
which I have used here and backed it with a
piece of dp with music (of course)
The sentiment is cut from Die-namics
and is by Paper Smooches.

Thanks for dropping in.
Hope you will pop over and see
what Special Male cards my
team mates have conjured up.

Did you SPOT what's Trending at Just Us Girls?

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls
and our Hostess is Nancy who chose
SPOTLIGHTING!

I made the background for this some time ago and
this piece was left over. It is the shaving cream technique
and I have done something a little different
by using Liquid Pearls - Daffodil & Avocado giving it a
nice sheen (which hasn't shown up) and SU Yo Yo Yellow reinker.
The gorgeous stamp is from Repeat Impressions
stamped with Memento Pistachio and the
popped up spotlight is cut from Spellbinders Hexagons.
I coloured the daffodil with watercolour pencils and
heat embossed it with clear embossing powder
giving it a glossy finish.
Added some black matting pearls and
cotton to finish.

If you haven't already been to Our Blog
better pop over and see what our June Guest Cornelia
has Spotlighted and my Team Mates - you know
you will love what they have made.
Love to see you join us and you would be in the running for
Chic of the Week and go on to be our Guest in August.

I will be in Craft heaven when this goes live. There is a
big Papercraft Convention in Brisbane (catching the train at 6am)
I go to yearly and meet upwith some online crafty friends.
I met a couple a few years ago
and last year a few more.
One came from Perth in Western Australia
and another from Melbourne Victoria.
This year we are making a week end of it and
we are all super excited.
To make it even more special I have
Cheryl Wright coming back to spend a few days
at my house before she returns to home.
She is a well known Author who is super talented
in the craft side as well.

Thanks for dropping in.

A Simple Hello!

Time for the latest challenge over at
Crafty Cardmakers and Kim's turn to HOST.
She has chosen a super popular Trend -
Monochrome.

When I made this card I was in water colouring mode
and I enjoy it so much.
I chose to make my monochrome with a touch of Colour.
My base is white card stock and I topped it
with the water colour technique using
Tim Holtz Cracked Pistachio/Peacock Feathers.
I also added a touch of speckles from Tim's stencil.
The Hello sentiment is from Lawn Fawn
and cut several times for dimension.
The Birthday Girl sentiment is from
Inspired by Stamping.
The butterfly is heat embossed and inked
from Cheery Lynn.
Lastly a row of pearls and paper pierced.
***
Hope you will pop over and see what my Team Mates
have made - inspired you and you get to
join us in this challenge.
