What the 'Trend' this week at Just Us Girls

Hello and Welcome to my Saturday Post for
Vicki is Hosting and chose a popular one
Emboss Resist Technique!

It's a favourite of mine and I found
This Tutorial by Kate Palmer on You Tube
that is just that little bit different and
virtually cased her design.
I inked my backgrounds with the same inks
usingthe flourish from SU Bliss with Archival Watering Can
and Archival Black on the Stampendous Script.
I then inked up my Bohemian Damask stencil with
WOW Atlantic Sea Spray Embossing Powder.
As you can see it has gold speckles which really
added so much to  the stenciling.
I then had loads of fun with some new Lindy's Sprays
in Tiffany Lou Blue and Witches Potion Purple.
(Love the shimmer)
I sprayed a few times to get the bold colours.
We all have an over abundance of ribbons etc and
since I haven't touched mine for such a LONG TIME
this was a perfect time to cut them
to add to my emboss resist background.
I then cut out my leaf background, flourish
and some fern to add to the back of my flower.
It is a MFT Heirloom Rose die cut several times
and sprayed with Lindy's.
Added some cord in front of the background
then attached my flower.
Sentiment is STAMPlorations FlutteryStamp/Die.
Finished with Nuvo Glitter drops and
attached to coloured card base.
I know there will be a few that love the colours here -
just happens they were some new Lindy's Sprays.
A close up of the embossing glitter and shimmer

Pop over and see what our Guests
Janet and Cindy created
and my Talented Team Mates.
Come join us in the Gallery.
You could be our Chic of the Week
and be in the running to join us as Guest in March.
Thanks for dropping in.
Love reading your comments.

A Textured Mixed Media Project for Art and Soul Studio

Today is my turn to showcase what I made with taking inspiration
from the January Mood Board over at

As you can see I honed in on the Deer and Trees.
***
I started my project by choosing the
Memory Box Garden Birch Landscape Stencil

then started sponging with Tim's Oxide Inks in
Faded Jeans/Spiced Marmalade/Fossilized Amber
Pealed Paint and Vintage Photo

Then with the stencil still in place
inking my trees in a variety of colours with
Memento Pistachio/Olive Grove/MementoLuxe Northern Pine
Versafine Clair Fallen Leaves

Checking out to see where to place my Deer
This is part of the Tim Holtz Great Outdoors CMS321 set
I purchased from the Art and Soul Studio as are the trees above.

Removed the stencil then
I heat embossed him with Ranger Copper and a second time
with Ranger Potting Soil.

Next came texture to the trees with DecoArt Crackle Paint
allowing it to dry naturally.

More texture was added for the ground using
Artisan Powder in Parisan Rosewood
Tim's Distress Stain in Gathered Twigs
and VersaFine Clair Fallen Leaves
mixed with DecoArt Texture Sand Paste.

and stenciled with Scratchy Stencil by Kaisercraft

Inked the edges then attached to a blue back.
Decided to add a backing with brown card stock
with a Stamperia Formato D (KSD282) stencil
using Nuvo Toasted Almond Mousse.
(Still not sure if I like it)
Added touches here and there for effect on the trees
and on the ground.
The trees were also coloured with an Antique Linen Pen.
Finished with distressing the background .
Main image is popped.
Sentiment is die cut from MFT Stitched Die
heat embossed in white.

A few close ups!

and Versamarked through it then heat embossed

Just Us Girls are Back!

Yes it's January and the Just Us Girls are Back
refreshed after our Christmas Break ready for
A New Year of Challenges.
Hope you enjoyed the Holiday Festivities.

We have two Talented Guest Designer's this month.
Welcome to Cindy Major and Janet Ribet.
Lovely to have you join us this month.

Sue is our First Host and it is WORD WEEK
and chose something I know we all have plenty of ---
LEFTOVERS! No not the food kind -
all those bits we sometimes have still on our
work space or tucked away for those
'I know I will use this one day'
Mine is a 'Bit Box' and I  rummage through it
quite regularly. I did so for my first challenge of the year
and have used the other half of my background piece
on my card here.
It was a little hard to get a decent photo. Sorry!

The coloured background is simply smooched with
Finnebair Art Alchemy Metallic Paints on water colour paper.
They were leftover paints on my work bench
that just couldn't go to waste.
I added a soft stenciling and a
sprinkle of glitter while wet on the side.
Added some pearls ribbon and an IO word die.
The background that I adhered to my card base is
stenciled with Nuvo Roasted Almond Mousse
and a new one from Sanna Lippert Designs
called ARTplorations Fairy-Tale-Forest

I saw a card from my good friend Loll Thompson
that I based my card on. Thanks for the inspiration Loll.

Hope you can come play with us this week
and add your card to Our Gallery
In doing so you could be our first
Chic of the Week for 2019
and be our Guest Designer in March.
Of course you will have seen what my Team Mates
created with their leftover bits haven't you?
Thanks for popping in.

Thank You

Hello and Welcome to my first post for 2019.
Happy New Year to you all.

The first post off the Block over at
Happy Little Stampers is for our
Watercolour Challenge and as usual it is
Anything Goes but we would love to see
TEXTURE on your creation with our Optional Twist
My fairly CAS card used
a background piece from my Bit Box
which was inked with
Finnebair Art Alchemy Metallic Paints.
For my texture I stenciled white texture paste
I added flourishes from Fancy That in gold
and white metallic paper.
The flower is also cut with metallic papers
and is from SU Botanical Blooms
with Nuvo Mousse around the edges.
Added some coloured prills to the centre of the flower.
Card base is Metallic with a soft pattern.
Sentiment - heat embossed with
Ranger Sage from

Hope you can pop over and
Welcome our New Designers
as well as our Returning Designers
and check out their January Creations
made for your pleasure.
Look forward to seeing you in our Gallery
Thanks for stopping by.

A Mixed Media 'Dream'

Christmas is over and goodies put to bed for a while at least.
Time to relax and just play  - in my case to use some new goodies.

I didn't know where this project would lead to so just
went with what took my fancy!
Funny enough I started two projects and nearly
put this one in the bin as I wasn't happy with the background
but came back to it today and pressed on.
The other item landed in the bin.
I started by adding a couple of patches of Sand Paste
then stenciling the background with
texture paste sprayed with
Tim's Dusty Concord Distress Stain.
Wet my page then added Lindy's Magical's
in Witches Potion Purple/Freaky Franken Lime
and Nuvo Solar Flare Shimmer Powder.
That is where I left it overnight.
I decided it needed a little more so
stenciled the middle using Nuvo Mousse
in Aloe Vera then just  kept adding
different coloured mousses
some Inka Gold and random script.
Inked water colour paper with
the same Magical's above and
Starburst Spray in Tiffany Lou Blue.
Stamped my butterflies with
Black Archival ink then heat embossed
in black. Fussy cut them after blinging them up
with Nuvo Blue Lagoon Crystal Drops.
Attached some lightly coloured dry wall tape and a
flourish before adding the butterflies.
Finished with a popped sentiment cut from
MFT die and distressing some of the edges.

A few close ups!

I am going enter this at
for their current Challenge Here
It's an Anything Goes so the sky's the limit!

Thanks for dropping in today.
Only a few days till the New Year.
Hoping yours will be a Happy Healthy one.

Life is a Beach at Art and Soul Studio Challenge

Time for my latest project  as Ambassador for
Art and Soul Studio over at their Blog.
It's a very Tropical Mood Board for December
as we are in our Summer Season in Oz
 and it depicts just that!

The heading says it all.

I started by adding Gesso to my 5"x 7" canvas
then crumpled up tissue paper for texture.
and DecoArt White Crackle Paint,
 adding colour
with Art /Alchemy Emerald Green/Mermaid Sparkle
and Glitter Gold Colour Craft Lustre Powder
Now to add my sea shells
Nice variety to choose from here.
Cut the mesh bag and thought it only right that
I would use a portion to help add more texture
and painted part of it with
Art Alchemy Gold Rush with a baby wipe.
Now to add those sea shells and some Calcined Bauxite
Then some painting,waxing -
pearls, mica flakes, beads and prills.

and a few close ups
finishing with the required sentiment word (Life)
from Inkadankado

I know December is a busy month and it would be
fabulous if you can join our   Art and Soul December Challenge.
There are $50 Gift Certificates on offer & we have a stunning mood board every month
There's so much beautiful inspiration from my Talented Team Mates.
